TWO people have been rushed to hospital after a serious road accident in Greenock which led to an air ambulance being summoned to the scene.
The accident happened on Lyle Road, near Lyle Hill, at 3.25pm and police say it involved a woman on a bike and a young boy.
The boy, aged 12, and the 34-year-old female have both been taken to hospital.
Emergency vehicles rushed to the scene, quickly followed by the air ambulance, which landed in nearby Lyle Park.
The helicopter took off again at 4.30pm.
No information is available at this stage about the condition of either casualty.
The road is closed with a cordon in place at Newton Street, with no cars or pedestrians allowed to pass.
Uniform and traffic police officers remain on the scene.
