WEST Dunbartonshire Trading Standards are urging residents to be vigilant after being alerted to a new email gas bill phishing scam.
The email tells the recipient they have a small amount outstanding on their bill and encourages the residents to pay it off by clicking a link.
It has been confirmed that these emails are not genuine and customers should not press the link or give away any of their personal or bank details.

Residents who receive a similar email and are unsure if it is legitimate, should contact their gas company directly using the telephone number on a utility bill.
