WEST Dunbartonshire Council’s Active Schools project is delighted to announce this month’s Young Sports Stars.

Amber Smith of Kilpatrick School, Lola Craig of St Mary’s Primary School in Clydebank and Thomas Kelly of St Stephen’s Primary school were nominated by their schools due to their motivation, commitment and participation in sport and physical activity during lockdown.

Amber worked hard in her garden, taking part in lots of activities shared by the Kilpatrick PE Department and took part in fun games to keep fit with her family.

Lola also took the opportunity to keep fit while the schools were closed by participating in a range of online dance workouts and regular Joe Wicks sessions.

Thomas made a special effort to prioritise his health and wellbeing during lockdown by taking part in every single PE session with online fitness guru Joe Wicks and also kept his teacher up to date with his progress by posting on Google Classroom.

A West Dunbartonshire Council spokesperson said: “These pupils, like thousands of others across West Dunbartonshire, really embraced physical activity and sport during the lockdown which was fantastic and will hopefully have inspired them to continue to be more active, more often.

“A big congratulations to Amber, Lola and Thomas from Active Schools and all at West Dunbartonshire Leisure.”
