GLASGOW City Council has been slammed for leaving a West End play park in a “state of disrepair”.

Residents have hit out at the play area in Victoria Park, claiming it has gone to ruin.

One grandmother found the majority of toys had been sealed off, while others were damaged.

She also claimed there was a foul odour coming from the unused toilets located close to the play area.

She said: “I have been to the park a couple of times recently and I am disgusted at the state of disrepair of the playpark. It is a disgrace that Glasgow City Council has let the playpark go like this since it is such a well used place to take children.”

A council spokesman said: “Victoria Park is regularly serviced and maintained with routine checks on the safety of equipment in the play area.

“We have over 400 play parks across the city and it is inevitable that faults can sometimes develop with well-used pieces of equipment.

“If a piece of play equipment is found to be damaged it will be made safe until such time as it can be repaired.

“We found no evidence to support the claims in relation to the disused toilets, but we will continue to monitor the situation.”
