Drivers in Clydebank are being advised that works will be carried out overnight at the Erskine Bridge next week.

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is carrying out detailed overnight inspection work on the six high mast lights adjacent to the A82 southbound offslips for the Erskine Bridge.

To reduce the impact on commuters using the bridge, work will be completed overnight, under a planned closure of the southbound carriageway, including closures of the A82 eastbound and A82 westbound off-slips to the Erskine Bridge southbound.

To deliver the inspection programme as quickly as possible, Amey say it will be necessary to implement an overnight closure of the A898 trunk road between 9pm on September 21 until 6am on September 22.

Billy Troup, Amey’s inspections manager, said: “This is an important section of the trunk road network, and as such is used by emergency services, freight, retail and delivery traffic as part of their essential working.

“It is vital that we complete these inspection works, the first for these structures, in order to maintain road safety.

“This project will be carried out under a single overnight closure, to minimise the impact on communities and businesses as they recover at this time.
“Amey on behalf of Transport Scotland, would like to take this opportunity to thank our customers for their patience while we deliver this important improvement project.”

Diversions will be in place.
