WORLD Suicide Prevention Day will take place tomorrow, September 10, highlighting the health issue across West Dunbartonshire.
The annual event began in 2003 to help raise awareness of the social responsibility people must take to look out for signs of depression amongst other people. In the UK, men are three times as likely to die by suicide than women.
Each year has a different theme and focus to bring to light a specific aspect of suicide prevention, with organisations and communities around the world coming together to defeat the stigma attached to depression and suicidal thoughts.
In 2018, there were 784 probable suicides in Scotland (581 males and 203 females).
