DRUMCHAPEL Food Bank has made an urgent plea for donations after multiple tins of infant formula were scooped up in two hours.

The Ladyloan Place site offered tins of SMA, Aptamil and Cow and Gate which was close to its expiry date to families in need.

Staff were stunned when the supplies were diminished just two hours later.

A spokesman for the food bank said: “We understand how expensive these items are, and even those who may not be in food poverty, may still struggle to provide these.”

Now, the service has called on residents to donate a number of food items to help those struggling during the coronavirus pandemic.

Clydebank Post:

Tinned fruit, tinned vegetables and toiletries are among the items needed.

Food can be donated at the office or via drop off sites at Drumchapel Sainsbury’s, B&M and selected Keystore branches.
