A MAN, 21, has been arrested following a reported serious sexual assault in Clydebank.
A 23-year-old woman was allegedly attacked in a lane off Alexander Street, adjacent to a café.
Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen something suspicious around the time of the incident – between 1.15am and 1.45am on Saturday, August 1.
Detective Inspector Scott Hamilton, of Clydebank Police Office, said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what happened, but we believe this was an isolated incident.
“We are eager to trace a couple who were seen in the area at the time. They were both dressed in black and the woman had blonde hair. We believe they may have vital information that will help with our investigation.
“Anyone else who can help with our enquiries is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
