NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is now allowing a designated visitor into all inpatient areas and labour wards across the region’s maternity units in addition to a woman’s birth partner who is their essential visitor.
The time for these visits within the antenatal and postnatal wards can be prearranged with the individual wards to ensure the continued safety of women, staff and visitors.
Partners can also accompany women for their scans and hospital antenatal appointments following guidance from the individual clinics.
Antenatal clinics not within the hospital setting, still remain with current restrictions with the woman attending on her own which will be reviewed as further guidance is received from the Scottish Government.
Visitors must wear a face covering in all areas of the hospital and will not be allowed into the ward without one.
