A MAN has been charged in connection with a Knightswood crash which claimed the life of a 75-year-old woman last year.

Margaret Meldrum, who was described as a "special lady" by her neighbours, was struck by a quadbike in Millbrix Avenue. 

Police have now charged a 24-year-old man in connection with the incident - a year on from the date the crash took place, July 13, 2019.

The man appeared in court on Friday, June 26. 

Following her death, tributes were left for Margaret at the site where the incident took place, just yards from her home.

Previously, the Post reported that flowers were attached to nearby lampposts with notes.

One said: “Rest in peace Margaret. A very special lady. We’ll miss you. Always in our thoughts.”

Another read: “Our hearts are saddened by your loss and our thoughts and prayers are with you”.

Speaking about the incident today, a police spokesperson said: "A 24-year-old man has been charged in connection with a fatal crash in Millbrix Avenue, Knightswood, a year ago.

"A 75-year-old woman, Margaret Meldrum, died in the crash which happened on Saturday, 13 July, 2019.

"The man appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday, 26 June, 2020."
