RUNNERS and volunteers celebrated Drumchapel parkrun’s fourth birthday recently.
Birthday cupcakes and cards were made and delivered – socially distanced – to those who contribute to the project.
A birthday video was also produced and a photo montage of runners with their cupcakes – spelling out “happy 4th birthday Drumchapel parkrun” – was shared on social media.
Normally, participants run each Saturday morning at 9.30am in Garscadden East Woods, then go for breakfast at the local cafe in St Mark’s church, but parkruns have been cancelled for around 12 weeks due to the pandemic.

Laura Gray, a local volunteer, said: “Our parkrun has such a great community spirit, we couldn’t let our fourth birthday go by without celebrating in some way.
“I often bring cakes along for after the run, so we thought it would be a great idea to have birthday cupcakes and cards delivered to folk. It has been lovely to catch up with our regular runners and volunteers on their doorsteps – people we’ve not seen for over 12 weeks.”
