THE town’s MSP has highlighted additional funding to support Clydebank tenants.

The extra funding will go to local authorities to provide support to tenants through the Discretionary Housing Payment (DHP) scheme.

Gil Paterson MSP said: “The coronavirus lockdown has packed a punch to many tenants, and helping with rent is just one way we are helping alleviate the pain felt by so many people in Clydebank and across the whole of Scotland.
“We have seen a surge of people apply for benefits, many of whom will be hit by the UK Government’s benefit cap. The DHP fund will support tenants struggling with housing costs, where Universal Credit or Housing Benefit does not cover the cost of their rent.”
