CLYDEBANK youngsters who smashed their audition for Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) have been praised by their proud dance teacher.

Nu Crew, of April’s Street Feet based in Dalmuir, got four “yes” votes after performing a high-energy dance routine on stage in London, earlier this year.

On Saturday, the girls, aged between five and ten, featured on the talent show’s televised auditions, which showed the dancers impressing all four BGT judges, as well as the audience.

Rapper Alesha Dixon said: “Girls, that was absolutely fantastic. Real talent, great music choices, it’s a yes from me.”

Fellow panellist and actress Amanda Holden added: “There is so much sass and so much energy. You should be fabulously proud of yourselves.”

Meanwhile, David Walliams, actor and author, said: “You did Scotland super proud today girls.”

And entrepreneur Simon Cowell gave the girls a thumbs up, and told the dance team: “You did really well girls, you’re very fierce and quite scary. You’ve got four yeses.”

The girls dance teacher, April Stuart-Macrae, told the Post: “To even get shown on TV is an amazing achievement, just seeing their wee faces was brilliant. There are kids as young as five - babies.

“They only learned their routine a week before they went down because it kept getting changed. It even got changed hours before they went on.

“To do that at five years old and still go out there and smash it is unbelievable.

“They never got one bad comment, all the judges absolutely loved them. To get four yeses is unreal. I can't praise them enough.”

The Nu Crew travelled to London in January for their edition, which was described as an “amazing experience for them”.

April added: “They got so much attention and got treated like royalty which they loved.”

The dance school was planning on having a slumber-type party in their studio, with the show being played through a projector so everyone could watch it together. But due to the lockdown, that wasn’t able to happen.

April said: “We were going to sit in our pyjamas together, have popcorn and pizza and make a big night of it.

“I was absolutely gutted we weren’t able to do it as I wanted to see their wee faces after watching themselves on TV.

“But, I was an absolute mess on Saturday night because they were so good. They would have all seen me crying if we were together.”
