BANKIES are being asked to support an urgent new appeal to help local families.

Radio Clyde’s Cash for Kids are asking for donations which will be collected into a fund, from which grants will be provided to help vulnerable families cope, should they be impacted by coronavirus.

The fund would cover basic essentials like food and heating bills.

Those who would be eligible include families on zero hour contracts, who may be facing reduced or completely cut hours, or those with no access to sick pay should they become unwell.

Clyde 1’s George Bowie said: “We have been hearing incredible stories of generosity from our listeners, as individuals go out of their way to help others through this unprecedented situation.

“In donating to the Cash For Kids Appeal, you’ll be making a small act of kindness that can make a huge difference to families in need.”

Sally Aitchison MBE, MD of Cash for Kids, added: “COVID-19 has and will affect all of us in some way. However, those on low incomes or who are living in or on the brink of poverty will be really feeling the pressure.

“We want to do what we can to support these families.”

Donations to the Cash for Kids Appeal can be made by texting CLYDE to 70905 to send £5 or online at clyde1.com/appeal.
