Staff at Corpus Christi Primary School in Knightswood wanted to ensure the parents and carers of their pupils that they “are all in this together”.

The school was thanked for the special message, as parents took to Twitter.

One parent said: “Thank you for this, it made me cry. You have given complete reassurance to us parents at the most difficult time where few reassurances can be made.”

The letter was originally written by a prinicpal at an Australian school, and said: "You might have every intention of recreating your child’s school timetable at home, covering every subject and keeping their learning on track.

“You may even have lots of ideas to keep them learning. You might have every intention to keep them away from technology during school hours. But here’s the thing...

“Our children are just as scared as we are right now. They have never experienced anything like this before.

“Although the idea of being off school for weeks sounds awesome, they are highly likely to be expecting a fun time like the summer holidays, not the reality of being trapped at home and not seeing their friends.”

The letter went on to say: “Over the coming weeks, you will see an increase in behaviour issues with your children as the anxiety/anger/confusion sets in. This is almost guaranteed to happen.

“You will see more meltdowns, tantrums and oppositional behaviour in the coming weeks. This is normal and should be expected under these circumstances.

“Even though you are filled with good intentions, your child needs you more than ever.

“This could mean you tear up that perfect schedule. Do not worry about your child’s education - every child is in the same boat and will be okay. When they come back to school, we will ensure we catch them where they are and help them get back on track.

“Your relationships and child’s mental health will be more important than their academic skills.

“How they felt during this time will stay with them long after the memory of what they did during this time. So keep that in mind every single day and enjoy the time you get to spend together.

“We’re all in this together.”
