A MAN has appeared in court charged with threatening to shoot two women at a property in Clydebank and to set fire to his father’s home in the town.

Allan Clark, of Thrushcraig Crescent, Paisley, is alleged to have threatened to set light to the property in Vanguard Street on June 10 last year.

Prosecutors claim the 44-year-old behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by striking a door, repeatedly shouting, swearing, demanding property and uttering threats to set fire to the house and to motor vehicles.

Mr Clark is also accused of behaving in a way likely to cause fear or alarm by threatening to shoot two women at a property in the town’s Graham Avenue on June 24 and 25 last year, and stating that he was in possession of a firearm.

At Dumbarton Sheriff Court on March 17, he pleaded not guilty to both charges.

Both Mr Mullen and procurator fiscal depute Meghan Glancey said they were ready to take the case to a trial.

Referring to government instructions not to start new jury trials due to the coronavirus pandemic, Sheriff William Gallacher said he could not set a trial date, and instead continued the matter to a further procedural hearing.
