A FAIFLEY thug who punched a man at a Clydebank cinema on Christmas Eve has been ordered to pay his victim £800 in compensation.

Jamie Royles, who lives in Collins Street, previously pleaded guilty to assaulting another man to his injury and permanent disfigurement.

The 40-year-old appeared at Dumbarton Sheriff Court for sentencing last Tuesday after admitting the attack at the Empire Cinema in the Clyde Shopping Centre.

At last week’s hearing Sheriff Frances McCartney said: “If you punch somebody then you have to deal with the consequences.

“It is a very serious matter which you have pleaded guilty to.”

As well as the fine, Royles was placed under social workers’ supervision for eight months and must carry out 120 hours of unpaid work in the community within 12 months as a direct alternative to custody.
