HAMSTER lovers gathered in Yoker at the weekend to celebrate their furry friends.

The second Hamster Show, organised via the National Hamster Council by Amberhill Hamstery, proved a great success at St Brendan’s Church Hall.

There were 24 Syrian and two Dwarf Hamsters entered into the main show and 46 hamsters entered into the pet class.

Margaret Donnelly, from Amberhill Hamstery, told the Post: “There was an amazing atmosphere throughout the day and members of the public also called in to see what was going on. People came from far and near.

“A massive thanks to everyone who turned up to make this show such a great success and already, the thinking caps are on preparing for the next one – a bigger venue might be required given the massive success of this one.”

Best in Show (Syrian) was awarded to Julie Osmond for Ernie, Reserve Best in Show (Syrian) was awarded to Leo Broadley with Eevee.

Best in Show (Dwarf) was awarded to Leia Morrison with Tam (Chinese Dwarf Hamster) and Reserve Best in Show (Dwarf) was awarded to Margaret Donnelly with her Dominant Spot Chinese hamster Mayleen.
