A DALMUIR man who admitted being involved in the supply of a class A drug has been spared jail after prosecutors accepted he had not sought financial gain from the scheme.

Stuart Munro, of Durban Avenue, was sentenced at Dumbarton Sheriff Court last week for being concerned in the supply of cocaine at his home address on April 27, 2018.

The long-running case against Munro concluded on February 25. A previous hearing was told the Crown accepted the 34-year-old had not made any money out of supplying the drug to others.

Sheriff William Gallacher told Munro: “It was originally suggested that the basis of this matter was for you to gain financially.

“It is now accepted that that is not what happened, and that you were making the drug available to others, but not for financial gain.

“However, this case did involve enabling others to have access to class A drugs, the consequences of which could have been very serious for the whole community.

“I accept that there is an alternative to custody.”

Munro was ordered to carry out 200 hours’ unpaid work within eight months.

Sheriff Gallacher added: “If you don’t do it, you’ll come back before me, and the option of not sending you to prison will have disappeared.”
