APPRENTICES working at the housing development at the former St Andrew’s High School met with Clydebank's MSP who toured the site.

Construction company CCG (Scotland) Ltd has committed to providing five new jobs, eight work placements, and five apprenticeships as a result of the new housing project in Clydebank that will see 126 new homes built on behalf of West Dunbartonshire Council.

Gil Paterson MSP explored the company’s approach to construction and affordable housebuilding as well as skills development and training during his visit to mark Scottish Apprentice Week (March 2-6).

Mr Paterson said: “It was good to visit CCG for a host of reasons, a business with a first class ethos and commitment to apprenticeships is to be welcomed, along with a building system that is producing excellent homes which will make a significant difference to Clydebank and the wider West Dunbartonshire area.”

CCG has also provided curriculum support for schools as well as a donation of £11,000 to locally-based initiatives.

Calum Murray, CCG director, said: “Providing apprenticeships, training and skills development is a big part of the CCG ethos and we are delighted to be brining such opportunities to communities like Clydebank as a result of our housebuilding programmes here and across central Scotland.

“We are delighted to be working with West Dunbartonshire Council in bringing more homes to the region over the coming years.

“The boys that were met on site are playing a big part and they can be very proud of their efforts.”
