BURGLARS ripped through a cash machine using a van during a raid on a convenience store in the early hours.

The Co-op on Holes Lane in Woolston was targeted at around 12.30am today, Wednesday.

Police say a group of unknown offenders gained access to the shop and stole money from the ATM inside before fleeing, leaving a white Ford Transit van at the scene.

Shutters at the front of the store were torn off during the break-in.

A tyre, a tow cable and a side panel of the cash machine – which is sited in the entrance of the shop – could be seen lying on the pavement outside this morning.
