One of Clydebank’s brightest young fundraisers is hosting a charity night in support of four different charities.

Kayla McCulloch has been a determined and hard-working campaigner to support the Children’s Liver Disease Foundation and is preparing for a night of fun.

An evening of clairvoyance with spiritualist Ricky Martin includes a buffet, disco, raffles, and a treasure hunt.

On the night of the event, Kayla and mum, Elaine, will be donating their hair to the Little Princess Trust after being inspired by a previous article in the Post about seven-year-old Charlotte Kennedy donating her locks to the same charity in August last year.

Proud mum Elaine said: “It has been difficult for her, but she is still focused on raising money so that she can give back to the charities that have helped her and help to benefit other children.”

Since Kayla was diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis overlapping with sclerosing cholangitis, where the immune system attacks her liver, she has created a number of events to raise funds.

Kayla will also be talking on Radio Lanarkshire on February 26 at 3pm about her latest charity work and her future projects to raise awareness about the importance of liver disease.

The 11-year-old has raised £6,000 towards her £10,000 lifetime target.

Despite being in hospital over Christmas, Kayla is still pushing herself to attend school, extra-curricular activities and make people aware of liver disease.

Her mum also said: “We have so much planned to help promote this event. We have posters advertised about the charity night. It would be a great help if anyone was willing to donate a prize to the raffle.”

The event will take place Friday, March 27, at the Yoker Bowling Club from 7.30pm.

Tickets are £5 per person.

All money raised will be split between the Children’s Liver Foundation, Wee Scottish Liver and Dream Flight.

Kayla will also be participating in 2020 Big Yellow Friday on March 6 to encourage everyone to wear something yellow and donate to the good cause.
