A DUNTOCHER man who lost his rag in a row with a woman at his home went on to breach a court order banning him from contacting her.

Sean Hagen shouted and swore at the woman during a drunken argument at the Stark Avenue property on November 16 before going on to repeatedly kick a door.

Hagen, 35, appeared in court two days after the incident and was released on bail, with a special condition barring him from contacting, or attempting to contact, the woman.

But on January 18, police received information that the two were in each other’s company – and Hagen was arrested for breaching bail.

Hagen returned to Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Friday to be sentenced on both cases.

Hagen’s solicitor, Stephen McGuire, said: “His position is that they were not in a relationship and never have been.

“In relation to the original matter, he accepts that he behaved in the manner libelled.

“In relation to the bail breach, his position is that the complainer had belongings at his house, and that he let her in in order to retrieve them. He accepts he shouldn’t have done that.”

Sheriff William Gallacher said the explanation of the bail breach “stretches the credibility of the court quite extensively”.

Addressing Hagen directly, the sheriff said; “Even according to your own account, you were in a position that you shouldn’t have been in.”

Hagen was ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work by mid-July.
