A pair of greedy con-artists used a bogus workmen routine to trick their way into an elderly couple's house to steal cash.

The first suspect claimed he was there to fix an electrical wire which was hitting off the occupant's window - at their home on Clyde Court in Dumbarton.

The 81-year-old male allowed the fraudster into the property and a second suspect followed.

The elderly female began speaking to the suspect who, upon asked for identification, fled the property.

It was only after the pair left did the women realise money had been from her handbag.
