The Scottish SPCA is keen to find a patient and understanding owner for a dog who can only eat venison, rice and potatoes.

The animal welfare charity, based in West Dunbartonshire, has been caring for Buffy, a Staffordshire bull terrier, while catering to her highly specialised diet due to her severe allergies.

Kim Mackrell, assistant centre manager at the centre, said: “Buffy is a gorgeous youngster who is looking for a home with another dog.

“She is such an affectionate girl who prides herself in being a lap dog, and would love an owner who is happy to have her on the sofa for cuddles.

“Buffy is house trained, with the occasional accident in a new environment.

“She has separation anxiety, however this is managed well when with another dog, so she’d do best in a home with a canine companion, preferably male.

“Sadly, Buffy suffers from food allergies so she can only eat venison, potatoes and rice. She is looking for an owner who can continue her high maintenance diet.

“Although great with kids, Buffy can frighten easily so would not suit a noisy home with small children. Due to her food allergies we also feel that a home with children might make her specialist diet hard to manage.”
