A TIMETABLE for shuttle bus services going through Old Kilpatrick has now been confirmed.

As reported by the Post last week, the railway bridge on the A814 Dumbarton Road north of Roman Crescent is currently closed off due to National Rail works. This has affected First Glasgow’s 1 A/B/E bus services that have had to bypass the village.

Following discussions with local MSP Gil Paterson since October, the SPT have confirmed that funding has been agreed to provide a shuttle service that will operate for the duration of the works, which Network Rail have stated will end at 6am on Monday, February 17.

The service will be operated by First Glasgow between Roman Crescent to Dalmuir every 30 minutes during the period of disruption.

On February 13 and 14, an additional shuttle bus will operate in the morning between 7.30am and 11.30am and in the afternoon between 2pm and 5pm. Services will operate every 15 minutes to accommodate a larger intake of passengers due to the end of the school break.

SPT recommend that some additional time is allowed by passengers on all days affected where the shuttle will operate but particularly on the school days where the passenger volumes may be greater.

Jackie Baillie, MSP for Dumbarton said: “I welcome the news that SPT, Network Rail and Transport Scotland have come together, to look at the problem and have agreed funding to operate a shuttle service to ensure residents have access to bus services during the bridge works.

“While residents understood that the works being carried out by Network Rail need to happen, it was simply not acceptable for such a populated area to be left without a bus service as this would cause significant travel issues, particularly for those without access to their own transport.”

First Glasgow will provide on-vehicle, roadside and digital information updates to assist affected passengers. Affected passengers may gather further information relating to both First Glasgow services 1 A/B/E and also the shuttle bus service at firstgroup.com/greater-glasgow.
