RESIDENTS across Clydebank could benefit from new waste bins this year provided the council agrees to award a new contract.

West Dunbartonshire Council is expected to agree £296,000 for the supply of waste bins to MGB Plastics for two years with the option to extend it until the end of January 2024.

The local authority has a requirement to provide, repair or replace waste receptacles to a number of properties in the West Dunbartonshire area including new build properties or ad-hoc replacements for current properties.

The two wheeled bins required are 140 and 240 litres for household recyclable and non-recyclable waste.

That’s one of three potential contracts which could benefit the local community.

The council is also expected to award a contract for the maintenance of grass verges on rural roads and cutting of hedges to Complete Weed Control Limited for two years, with the potential to extend for another two years.

If successful, the value of the contract will be £26,735 per annum, with the estimated start date of Monday, February 10.

The West Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership is also expected to conclude a direct awards contract for accommodation-based services for people with learning difficulties with an estimated value of more than £5,570,300 for 12 months.

While the value may be subject to change, the start date of the contract will be no later than Monday, February 10.

Services are provided in the form of care at home and/or housing support packages with help available 24/7. The money will also be used to fund waking night, sleepover, on-call services or day care.

The three contracts will be discussed in more detail at the council’s tendering committee on Wednesday, January 22.
