POLICE are re-appealing for information concerning the circumstances of Johnny Connelly’s death.

The 28-year-old, who worked in Clydebank, was described by a fellow employee as “a kind person who would do anything for anyone”.

He was first reported missing on July 15, 2019, before his body was discovered at Speirs Wharf in Glasgow a week later on July 22.

Officers have been investigating Johnny’s death ever since, with more than 50 statements and 40 people being spoken to as well as hundreds of hours of CCTV footage covering the city centre, Cowcaddens, Speirs Wharf and surrounding areas being poured over.

His death remains unexplained at this time while detectives continue to work on the investigation, however, officers believe Johnny has possibly been assaulted at the underpass near to, or at the stairs, leading from Garscube Road in Glasgow’s city centre.

Enquiries established three men were near to that location around 10.25pm on Monday, July 15.

They are a group of white males, between 30 and 45 years of age and spoke Scottish accents and wore jeans and sports clothing.

Officers are appealing for the three men to come forward as they may have vital information which could assist with the investigation.

Detective inspector John Morrison said: “Johnny was a loving son, brother and a much-loved uncle. His family is still trying to come to terms with his loss and just want to know what happened to him.

"Not knowing what happened or how he came to his death is causing them added anguish and sorrow. We remain committed to finding out what happened to Johnny and finding answers for the family devastated by his death.

“I am appealing to these three men to contact us, they may think they don’t know anything but I am asking them to let us be the judge of that. A small piece of information, which may seem insignificant, could be vital to us as we build up a picture of what has happened.

“I am also re-appealing to the public to consider whether they too have information which could be relevant. Anyone losing a loved one is entitled to know what happened to them. Please contact us and pass your information on.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 3452 of July 22, 2019.
