POLICE in West Dunbartonshire are warning residents about the consequences of handling stolen goods.

Officers say that while everyone loves a bargain, people can also be lured by the temptation of cut-price stolen items.

Goods can include anything and, once stolen, the items are quickly sold on using social media and online marketplaces, on the street or even door to door.

Police are reminding residents that stolen goods can be unsafe.

You can still be arrested for handling them as, whilst you haven’t committed the original crime, you’re still possessing goods that have come into your possession through an act of dishonesty and you’re depriving the owner of what is rightfully theirs.
