THE number of ultra-low emission vehicles being driven in West Dunbartonshire has risen sharply over the past year.

According to new figures by the Department for Transport, 84 electric vehicles were registered in the local authority between July to September 2018.

This number jumped to 125 for the same period in 2019 – an increase of 48.81 per cent.

Despite popularity growing, there are just 14,500 low-emission vehicles registered in Scotland, compared to more than three million vehicles in total.
