A YOUNG singer and songwriter from Alexandria will take to the stage in Clydebank during a school’s Nativity performance.

Twenty-one-year-old Liv Dawn, who went to the Vale of Leven Academy, has been invited as a guest performer at Carleith Primary’s show on Wednesday, December 18 at 1.30pm.

Liv studied acting and performance in Glasgow for two years but only in the last year decided to take on music as a career.

She described her music style as pop country and acoustic.

The musician said: “Music is so important to help young children express themselves but unfortunately I don’t think there is not a lot of music, drama and arts available in schools these days.

“So, for myself to bring something to Carleith Primary School and for the kids to be involved and enjoy it is great.

“I love working with kids as they are always so enthusiastic and willing to try new things, and it helps that the children at Carleith are lovely. I am really excited to be performing with them.”

Liv was made a finalist at BBC Radio Scotland’s Singer-Songwriter Award this year where she performed her own song Welcome Home.

She said: “Being selected as a finalist was so incredible. I remember totally freaking out once I heard and ran to tell everyone around me.

“The four finalists were chosen through a public vote and to have so many people vote for me was special. We performed at the live award and it was such a surreal experience and I knew then, being on stage was what I wanted to do.”
