DALMUIR’S Backdoor Gallery will now be known as The Dalmuir Gallery.

West Dunbartonshire Councillors recently approved plans to rename the venue and invest up to £15,000 in it.

Work will be undertaken to consider how to significantly improve the visitors’ experience and attract new exhibitions.

The funding will pay for experts to produce a new vision of the exhibition space based within Dalmuir Library.

Once complete, exhibitions could be aligned with the programme at Clydebank Museum to complement exhibits, and further enhance the experience of visitors to the area.

The proposals will be developed and reported back to the cultural committee within six months.

Bailie Denis Agnew said: “Improving the cultural facilities should increase visitors to our area and in turn provide economic benefits. The newly renamed Dalmuir Gallery is an important part of our aspirations to enhance our cultural venues. The Cultural Committee has approved concept funding for the project and I look forward to reviewing detailed proposals for the gallery in the near future.”
