Industry leader BAE Systems have been awarded for globally outstanding environmental and safety performance.

The company, which has a site in Scotstoun, has received two awards, both among the British Safety Councils highest accolades - a Globe of Honour for environmental performance and a Sword of Honour for health and safety.

Eddie Paton (pictured), head of safety, health and environment at BAE Systems Naval Ships, said:

“This award recognises that we put the health and safety of our people and environmental protection above all else and it serves as a reminder as to why that is important.

"”

It marks the third year in a row that the business has received the Sword of Honour and is the second year the business has been awarded the Globe of Honour.

And is one of only seven organisations worldwide which won both.

Lawrence Waterman, chairman of the British Safety Council, added: “I would like to congratulate BAE Systems Naval Ships on achieving the very highest standards.”
