A SCHOOLGIRL from Faifley is still “buzzing” after playing the main role in Celtic Football Club’s Christmas advert.

Tiana Bainbridge was selected to play the lead part in the three-minute clip that has been viewed by more than one million people on social media.

The 10-year-old got the chance to meet the full team and manager Neil Lennon while filming last month at the Mitchell Theatre in Glasgow.

Celtic stars including James Forrest, Odsonne Edouard, Scott Brown, and Ryan Christie, all feature in the advert – holding, wearing, or using items that can be purchased from the Celtic store this festive season.

Tiana stars alongside the players and starts the ad by peeking through a set of curtains.

She is then seen with the other students singing in a choir directed by team manager Neil Lennon – and they sing a remake of the Christmas classic “We Three Kings”.

Christina Bainbridge, Tiana’s mum, told the Post: “She was absolutely ecstatic after seeing herself in the advert. She is still buzzing. I’m so proud of her achievements.

“Her work ethic and the effort she puts in is brilliant and it’s paying off for her. The feedback we got was great – people were saying she was fantastic.”

The St Joseph’s Primary School pupil also attends the UK Theatre School two nights a week. Another 15 students from the school were picked to join the filming session.

Last year, the Post reported that Tiana performed in a musical production of the popular family film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the Kings Theatre.

And the youngster has got a busy Christmas lined up with rehearsals for a school production – The Wizard of Oz – in which she is playing the role of the scarecrow, as well as singing on Christmas Eve at a church service, and working hard for her theatre production exams.

Lizanne Lambie Thomson, UK Theatre School principal, said: “Tiana did a wonderful job during filming and, as any actress should do, she followed the instructions from the director.

“We originally submitted 35 young students and the production team opted for their final 16 to join the filming session.

“We rehearsed the charity song ahead of the big day and on the day of filming, the students who are all aged between seven and 12 sang along with the Celtic players.

“The team were great fun and terrific with the students, and the club’s captain, Scott Brown, and manager, Neil Lennon, took time at the end to chat to our students, have their photos taken with them and sign autographs.

“The production was full-scale with a lot of props and several cameramen in action during filming. It’s great for our students to enjoy the experience of a professional filming production which all helps prepare them if they want to pursue a career in the performing arts.”

The video is part of Celtic’s annual fundraising initiative, which will help local families who are facing poverty. The appeal will also support a number of initiatives working with refugee families, as well as assisting groups, including Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity and Spirit Aid.
