RESIDENTS across Clydebank are being urged to make sure they are registered to vote in time for next month’s General Election.

It takes just five minutes to register online at gov.uk/register-to-vote. You will need to have a note of your National Insurance number.

The deadline for registration is midnight on Tuesday, November 26.

Those who are already on the electoral register do not need to re-register, unless they have changed their name, address or nationality.

Anyone who would like to use a postal vote must apply for this by 5pm on November 26. If applying for a proxy vote, the deadline is 5pm on December 4.

David Thomson, electoral registration officer for Dunbartonshire and Argyll and Bute, said: “Now is the time to make sure you can vote in the General Election.

“It’s important to ensure that you are registered, especially if you have moved house or turned 18 this year.

“We don’t want anyone to miss the opportunity to have their say.

Joyce White, returning officer for West Dunbartonshire, added: “The UK Government makes many decisions which affect the people of West Dunbartonshire so it is important all residents make sure they are registered to vote by the deadline so they can have their say on December 12 about who they want to represent them.”
