Inspectors visited the Drumchapel Place home to decide if the environment was suitable for the award by observing their kitchen and hygiene methods.

The review of the facility took into consideration training, general hygiene and the quality of the food, which is produced by a team including Jacqueline Mullen, head chef, and Jamie Moore, assistant chef.

Staff at the care home were ‘delighted’ to receive the award which was presented by the local Environmental Health authorities.

Jacqueline said: “All the kitchen department at Almond Court love their roles and know they are making a difference to the elderly resident’s day to day lives in the home.”

Lorna Flannagan, service manager, said: “I’m very proud of the kitchen department.

“Their role in the home is vital but they don’t always receive recognition from awarding bodies. I’m delighted they have been recognised in this way.”
