THE FAIFLEY Art Group have launched an award named in memory of their founding member.

Gordon Murdoch founded the group in 1988 and remained an active member and committee member until 2011 before he passed away in May 2017.

And the new Gordon Murdoch Quaich Award will be presented to the artist who receives the most public votes for their work during the group’s annual exhibition.

Clydebank’s MSP Gil Paterson praised the award during a visit to the current exhibition.

He said: “Faifley Art Group consistently produce top quality work, with some really eye-catching pieces on display again this year.

“I am especially pleased to hear of the launch of the group’s annual award which is a very fitting way to remember a clearly well respected and much-loved member.

“I won’t say which is my favourite piece at this year’s exhibition but would encourage people to come along and see for themselves the high-quality work on display.”

The exhibition will be running until November 2 at the Backdoor Gallery, Dalmuir Library.
