GOLDEN FRIENDSHIPS are allowing people with disabilities to get involved in sport by holding a boccia club.

The ball game, which is a paralympic sport, is similar to bocce and related to bowls.

The game involves people in wheelchairs competing by kicking, throwing or using a ramp to propel a red or blue ball with the aim of getting closest to a white ball, which is the jack.

The club is held at the Golden Friendships Community Halls in Dalmuir every Wednesday from 1pm until 4pm.

Jim McLaren, founder of the charity, said the atmosphere is fantastic during the meetings.

There is plenty going on at Golden Friendships, including a club for kids which has been set up for the October week.

Jim said he was “delighted” that the group received funding from the council to part-fund the plans.

A breakfast club will be held on October 14 from 10am and a lunch club on October 16 will run from 1pm.
