A BUSINESS on Duntocher Road was the subject of an attempted fraud recently.
On Wednesday, September 3 a man was contacted over the phone by a woman pretending to work for HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
He was told that he owed HMRC around £5,000 and was asked to provide personal details including his bank details, however, no money was given.
Officers are now carrying out enquiries to identify the person responsible.
A spokesman said: “Police Scotland take this opportunity to remind the public that under no circumstances should you ever disclose personal or bank details to anyone. As a general rule; information that you would not disclose to a stranger in the street should not be disclosed on your doorstep or via telephone.”
