A FURIOUS mum has blasted “idiots” for leaving broken glass lying around Knightswood BMX track – as her son suffered bloody injuries after falling off his bike onto the shards.

Jacqueline Macleod, 38, was irate after seven-year-old Sam had to have broken glass picked out of his hands after the fall on Saturday afternoon.

Raging Jacqueline snapped at the neds for leaving cracked bottles around the BMX track and warned that more youngsters face painful injuries if nothing is done to crack down on yobs.

She said: “I’m really angry. Absolutely furious. He went round and came off the bike and I’ve went to help and seen all the blood and glass.

“A lot of blood came from the wound. It’s just absolute idiots who leave this stuff lying about, it was a lot of glass. They obviously just don’t care.”

The amount of blood from the cut left Jacqueline terrified for her son’s safety and she admitted to being worried that she was initially unable to tell what he had hurt.

But worry turned to relief that it was just a flesh wound to his hand that Sam suffered – and not anything worse.

She said: “I got a real fright. He hurt his side the way he went down and obviously held onto it when he got up. Then I spotted the blood coming from his T-shirt and I thought something worse had happened.

“It could’ve been much worse, it could’ve went anywhere, he was so lucky it hit where it did because it was quite a thick piece of glass.”

Sam was left with minor injuries following the tumble but has been put off using the park again.

Jacqueline continued: “He’s already said he won’t be going back to the park. He actually said he doesn’t want to go on his bike again but hopefully that will change.”

The post racked up hundreds of likes and shares after it was posted on social media.

And plenty of people backed Jacqueline’s decision to highlight the incident.

One person said: “This is awful. I hope your wee boy isn’t too sore and it heals soon xx”.

Another added: “Place should be checked regularly for this very reason”.

Local councillor Michael Cullen said: “I am aware of the refuse issue at the Knightswood BMX track. We have highlighted the issue around the bins being serviced and also are working with our colleagues at Glasgow Life as we are looking at ways to provide extra bins if possible.”
