A WOMAN was pulled to the ground and had her handbag stolen during a robbery in Scotstoun.

The man approached the 23-year-old while she was walking along Dumbarton Road near to Duncan Avenue, at 5.45am on Saturday, July 13.

He pulled up on a silver bike and grabbed her from behind causing her to fall, before pulling at her bag which contained a two-figure sum of money and making off with it.

Only 20 minutes before, the same man approached a 26-year-old woman who was waiting at a bus stop on Dumbarton Road, near Methil Street.

At 5.25am he approached her and asked for money several times, but the woman didn’t hand any over and moved away.

Police are now appealing to a man and a taxi driver who may be able to assist their enquiries.

Neither woman was injured during the incidents but both have been left shaken by their ordeal.

The suspect is described as being in his late teens/early 20s, slim with dark sallow/brown skin and short dark hair.

He spoke broken English and was wearing a two-tone blue/black hooded top, grey jogging bottoms and black trainers.

Detective Sergeant Neil Guy, Community Investigation Unit, Govan Police Station, said: “From CCTV we see the man approach the first lady then make off on his silver bike along Dumbarton Road where he seems to have an altercation with a man on the street. He is then seen riding his bike in the middle of Dumbarton Road, near to Queen Victoria Court, but is challenged by a private hire driver who he rides into the path of.
