PRIMARY school pupils from across West Dunbartonshire battled it out to be crowned the netball champions of 2019.

The Active Schools team ran the annual netball final event on Thursday, June 13, at Clydebank Leisure Centre.

Goldenhill secured first place, Linnvale were second, St Mary’s Duntocher third, Bonhill fourth, St Michael’s fifth, Christie Park sixth, and Aitkenbar seventh.

More than 150 parents and family members turned up creating a brilliant atmosphere, and boosting the players.

Yvonne Macdonald, Active Schools coordinator, was delighted with the success of the event.

She said: “The standard of play and sportsmanship was absolutely fantastic with all pupils a credit to their schools.

“Netball is a hugely popular sport in West Dunbartonshire, with almost every primary school in the local authority running a lunchtime or after-school club.

“The netball final is the culmination after months of training for these pupils, and it was fantastic to see so many parents coming out to support them on the night.”

Any children who are looking to get involved in netball can go along to Dumbarton Harp Juniors on Tuesdays, at 6-7pm in the Meadow Centre, or Clydebank Cobras on Saturdays, 9.30-10.30am at Clydebank High School.
