PLANS for a holiday hunger fund across West Dunbartonshire are moving forward for the coming weeks.

Council bosses will work with community and church organisations such as Centre81 and St Joseph’s Church in Faifley to provide meals, mostly with play or summer activity programmes.

Most will be free to families and there will also be an extensive programme delivered by Y Sort It across the local authority this summer.

Last week’s education committee heard the plans for the fund have already been approved by the corporate services committee.

Laura Mason, chief education officer, said: “It’s going to be widely publicised.”

Councillors approved the fund, which has £100,000 set aside each year by the council.
