A HEALTH chief has thanked residents across West Dunbartonshire for nominating their local NHS heroes for a prestigious annual award.

The chairman’s awards celebrate innovation and staff in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde who go the extra mile to provide exceptional care for their patients.

Now the chairman himself, John Brown, has thanked residents for their support so far.

He said: “Each day when I visit services across the organisation I am hugely impressed by the people I meet and their dedication to their patients and the NHS. Our awards are a fantastic opportunity to shine a light on these people and to celebrate those who go above and beyond the call of duty.”

For the first time, all seven categories are open to the public.

It includes categories for a top nurse or nursing team, dedicated volunteers, examples of excellent care and health improvement advice.

This year there is also a new “better workplace” award to recognise the often unseen work of staff.
