Rail passengers have enjoyed the most punctual train service since last September in the past month, ScotRail has revealed.

More than 90 per cent of the network’s trains arrived within the rail industry standard public performance measure in the past four weeks across Scotland.

ScotRail said there were improvements for customers on routes all over the country during the period April 28 to May 25.

Scheduling alterations introduced recently also delivered 115,000 more seats on trains since 2015.

Alex Hynes, of ScotRail Alliance, said: “I am delighted we have been able to deliver the service our customers expect and deserve.

“Everyone across the ScotRail Alliance is continuing to work flat out every day to improve the service, and achieving our best punctuality since September last year shows that the hard work is delivering for our customers.”.
