TERRACES are rocking to the sound of the Bankies in the lead up to the big cup final date after a Clydebank-daft rock band recorded a song to spur on the side at Rugby Park.

Someone’s Sons, a four-piece group from Drumry and Parkhall, hit the recording studio to produce the song “Clydebank Forever” to soundtrack the team’s remarkable run to the Scottish Junior Cup final.

Inspired by songs chanted by the Bankies fans and their own love of Budgie McGhie’s team, the upbeat record looks set to be a huge hit on the slopes of Holm Park where the team currently ply their trade.

The band drove up to record the song — an upbeat sunshine pop rock song — at a studio in the countryside near Inveraray, owned by Craig McIntyre, and were finished in three hours, despite not having any lyrics when they started.

Jamie Duncanson, 25, the drummer, said: “We went into the kitchen at the studio for about twenty minutes and just battered the words out there and then.

“We got the line ‘we make ships and sewing machines, and we make famous football teams’ off the Bankies song sung on the terraces.

“There’s other bits like ‘from Kilbowie Park to Singer Station’ which give a great feeling of what is part and parcel of Clydebank.”

Jamie added: “It’s going to be a really special occasion and with the number of people interested in it we hope we get a lot of people listening to the song. We’re happy to be asked to be part of it — it’s a great idea.”
