A CLYDEBANK based dance team have recently returned from a trip to an international competition in America.

The Allstars Senior Black team, of Champion Dance and Cheer, travelled to Florida last month to compete in the USASF World Championships at Orlando’s Walt Disney World resort.

The best cheer and dance teams in the world are invited to the event by winning a national championship in their respective countries.

And the Clydebank team who train in Centre81, were placed sixth out of 36 teams from all around the world, making them third in the Nations cup as only two teams from the USA and three teams from Japan were placed higher than them.

The team were also ranked the highest placing from Europe.

As well as attending the championships, several members of Champion Dance and Cheer competed as part of a unified Team Scotland, made up of athletes age 12 plus from clubs from all over Scotland, at the International Cheer Unions World Championship, also held in Orlando.

Champion Dance and Cheer coaches were amongst a team who trained the national team.

Lisa Tausney, cheer coach at the dance school, said: “For such a small country Team Scotland ranked amazingly well and we are excited for the future of our sport.”
