A NEW BBC documentary is set to celebrate the workers of Singers in Clydebank and the sewing machines they made for generations.
“The Singer Story: Made in Clydebank” tells some of the stories of tens of thousands of Bankies who worked and lived around the factory.
It will feature a wealth of archive film, from its heyday to the dismantling of the iconic clock tower.

A number of employees speak about Singers, including Isa McKenzie, who was born in 1929 and one of many to mourn the passing of the town giant.
She said: “No-one ever thought Singer would close because it had been such a big part of our lives.”
The documentary airs on BBC One Scotland on May 8, 9pm to 10pm.
