The actions of young volunteers who go the extra mile to help keep their communities safe have been praised at an awards ceremony.

Police Scotland Youth Volunteers (PSYV) from Clydebank and Dumbarton were in the spotlight at an event held at Clydebank High School.

The occasion, attended by an audience of around 60, saw youngsters passing out from the PSYV initial training programme which is designed to provide all young volunteers with the basic knowledge required to volunteer in their communities.

In addition, others received Saltire Awards, the Scottish Government’s way of celebrating, recognising and rewarding the commitment, contribution and achievements of young volunteers.

There also were awards for leadership, commitment and volunteers of the year.
