Steve Willington, Met Office chief meteorologist, said: "From today, April 17, temperatures will start to rise day by day and with the sun getting stronger at this time of year, it’s going to feel warm or very warm by the time we get to Good Friday and Easter Saturday.

"With temperatures usually around 10 to 13 Celsius at this time of year, it’s certainly going to be significantly warmer than average this Easter weekend and quite a contrast to the colder weather we have seen so far this month.”

And much of the UK could be hotter than St Tropez, Marbella, and the island of Majorca which is to be cloudy on Saturday and Sunday.
